The LA Times is proud to announce a new iteration of the festival, launching in May 2021. This three-month festival celebrates the diversity and glorious mosaic of L.A.’s cultures and cuisines and continues to support local communities and restaurants. The festival will include both annual classics and newly reimagined events, in both a physical and virtual format.
The Taste
Presented by The Times’ esteemed food writers and editors, The Taste spans nearly two weekends and two counties each year. Participating restaurants and renowned chefs serve up samples of their favorite dishes, live cooking demonstrations highlight star chefs and the city’s top mixologists offer delicious beverages.
LA Times Virtual Dinner Series
This virtual festival series will support local restaurants, the food industry, and local communities. . Two chefs from leading Southern California restaurants will cook together for one night only and create a 3-course meal. They will also, be having a conversation with an L.A. Times food journalist. More so, each dinner will showcase specific cuisines and neighborhoods to ensure diversity and a geographic spread from Beverly Hills to Costa Mesa and in-between.
An exclusive three-course meal created for this festival by the participating chefs will be directly delivered to each participating household, along with heating and prep instructions. Viewers will be able to eat the meals on-screen while hearing the stories behind the dishes and seeing the chefs demonstrate the techniques used to create the meal.
Eat See Hear
This is a summer festival series featuring gourmet food trucks, live music, and outdoor movies. During the festival, the movie and music industries were revolutionized, and the food truck trend was born. Held over 20 Saturdays and at unique locations throughout Los Angeles.
